Q: Tracey, thank you so much for agreeing to do this interview with us. You’re our first wedding venue representative, so I’ll be asking lots of questions! First of all, tell me a little bit about the wedding venue that you represent.

A: Walton Castle dates back to 1620 and is a grade 2 listed hill top property, set in 4 acres of private grounds in Clevedon. The castle can be hired for exclusive use and is the perfect setting to host the most fantastic weddings, civil ceremonies, civil partnerships & private celebrations.

Q: How many weddings do you host every year?

A: Approx 40 and growing.

Q: How difficult is it for a bride to book your venue? How long in advance should they contact you if interested?

A: Usually 1 year is sufficient but we are booking viewings for 2017

Q: Tell me more about what you guys specifically do on a wedding day held at the Walton Castle. What are your responsibilities?

A: Walton Castle is a dry hire, which means we just let the castle out for exclusive use.  We are happy to help clients find suppliers and introduce them to caterers etc but we do not get involved in the planning ourselves. If there is a ceremony taking place – we are always in attendance for that part of the day.

Q: What do you supply for a wedding, specifically? (Could be anything from centerpieces to catering services)

A: The venue, the bedding and towels.

Q: Did you ever come across what people like to call a “bridezilla”?

A: Not here but in my career – yes.

Q: Please describe a difficult situation that you had to overcome.

A: Nothing here at the castle apart from a last minute (very stressful) event where all the electric blew from a water leak only hours before the guests were due to arrive.

Q: Do you work with other wedding vendors? How does your relationship with other vendors work in the benefit of the bride?

A: We work with many suppliers and have brilliant relationships with wedding suppliers, caterers etc.

Q: What sets Walton Castle apart from every other wedding venue in your area?

A: It’s a castle, you can bring your own booze with no corkage, you can create a day according to your dream not ours!

Q: Here’s one of my favorite questions: If you had a magic wand and could change one thing about the mentality or attitude of the brides that are interested in your venue, what would that be?

A: That they are realistic about costs – hiring a castle is not cheap but neither is maintaining one!

Q: Do you get any feedback from brides after the actual event?

A:Everybody loves it – “We chose Walton Castle for the breath-taking setting and the seclusion of a private location in the woods above the sea.  We knew it would be magical and special with the August leaves green and orange in the surrounding woods. Both our families and all our friends were enthralled.” Wedding “We immediately knew it was where we wanted to get married. The cobbled driveway, the secluded and unique Castle high above the coast with stunning views. Even with 120 guests it was magic, personal and private. Everyone was blown away.”

Q: As a wedding venue, what kind of appreciation do you expect from brides when their wedding is over?

A: A testimonial and photographs are always appreciated.

Q: How would you convince a skeptical bride to choose Walton Castle over any other venue options?

A:The fact they they can create their dream wedding – they do not have to conform to menus, drinks packages, timings etc – At WC the day is theirs to design!

Q: Do you have any advice for brides who are not sure which wedding venue to choose?

A:When you find “the one” you will know in your heart! but be realistic before you leave the house and know your own budget and stick to it!
