There is a tradition that you’ve probably heard of, the one that requires you to give out wedding favors to your guests. Wedding favors are like small souvenirs that serve as a small memory for your guests. But you don’t have to hand out wedding favors just because it’s tradition: you should do it because you want to give people an extra little something to remember your wedding by.

Favors can be either useful or esthetic, but either way they need to be chosen with good taste. They don’t have to be expensive; they just have to represent you guys as a couple. Don’t hesitate to opt for handmade favors and, if you have the time, you can even make them yourself. I once attended a wedding where the favors where made by the bride herself. She bought little bottles and printed love quotes: a different one for each guest.

You can opt for little decorated boxes, where you can put some cookies or cupcakes from the wedding. People will have a sweet snack the day after and they can keep the box to hold something else inside it.

Jars make an excellent wedding favor, if they have something sweet inside them. You can fill them with colored candy, honey, jam, coffee beans, or something decorative, like stones or even sand (the latter choice is ideal for beach weddings). To personalize these jars, you can print out your own labels and glue them to the jar. The labels can include anything representative, even a picture with the 2 of you.

Another idea would be to give out half a liter bottles with something tasty, like lemonade. To make them even more appealing, you can mix different fruit syrups with that lemonade and have flavors that range from passion fruit to strawberries. These bottles can also contain wine. Remember to personalize the bottles with labels.

What if your photographer could take instant shots of you and the guests and hand them out at the end of the reception. There’s so many ways to work with this idea… You can have the photos printed on magnets or, if you can afford it, you can also rent a photo booth and have the guests take funny photos of themselves at the wedding.

There is basically no limit to the wedding favors ideas that you can choose from. You can give out anything from small pots of your favorite flowers to colored umbrellas, decorated candles, floral arrangements, beautifully colored sunglasses, chocolate boxes and others.
