Your wedding is almost here and you’re done preparing everything you had to prepare. The last days right before the wedding are fit for relaxation to prepare for the emotions that are coming together with the big day. You mustn’t forget to eat properly but you need to be careful with certain foods that might cause you trouble. Here is a list of the top 7 foods that you need to avoid eating the days before the wedding.

  1. Dairy products – it’s true that not everyone has lactose intolerance or a high sensitivity to dairy products, but why take the risk right before the wedding? Lactose intolerance is one of the most common sensitivities that people have as far as food is concerned and it can cause bloating, flatulence and even cramps. The only exception to this rule is Greek yogurt, as it is made of sheep milk and contains less fat, less sugar, less carbs and less calories that the regular yogurt made out of cow milk. In addition, Greek yogurt contains more protein, which makes it easier to digest it.
  2. Pasta – if you’re one of those women who pays close attention to her silhouette, you’ve probably been avoiding pasta for a while now. In addition to pasta, you may want to avoid other foods such as bread or potatoes, as they contain a lot of starch which is disturbing the balance of your intestinal system. Consuming these foods can cause constipation and flatulence, so try not to eat them the week before your wedding.
  3. Beans – by now, you are all familiar with the jokes made about beans. Beans contain a certain type of sugar that cannot be digested by the human body. When this sugar reaches our intestines, the bacteria dwelling here tries to digest it, thus causing the gases we are all familiar with. Bloating and flatulence are 2 of the side effects caused by consuming beans, so try to avoid them a week or 2 before the wedding. In order to maintain the level of intestinal gas to a minimum, try to eat other food that contains protein, like chicken or fish.
  4. Salt – an excessive quantity of salt is never healthy. Even if our organism does need salt, it causes our body to retain water and you don’t want to start swelling. This is will especially be visible on your fingers and toes, but also in the area around your eyes. We’re not just talking about the salt that you put on your food: you also have to pay attention to the salt found in processed foods, in certain vegetables and in snacks such as pretzels or chips. Doctors recommend that we consume about 2.3 grams of salt each day.
  5. Junk food – this is probably one of our biggest sins. We know that planning a wedding can be exhausting and time-consuming and doesn’t exactly leave you with much time to cook. However, try to stay away from fast-foods because it does nothing more than wear out your organism even more. 2 weeks before the wedding, you should avoid everything in the range of hamburgers, hotdogs, fries, doughnuts or pizza. These foods are really hard to digest, they make your body feel even more tired and they are known for helping people put pounds on really fast.
  6. Fizzy drinks – even if you drink mineral water, stop it. Everything with bubbles is generally bad for your organism. Have you seen how bubbles react in your soda glass? That’s exactly the reaction they have inside your organism as well. You will feel bloated and start gaining weight because sodas are filled with high quantities of sugar. And because of that sugar, your thirst will never be quenched and you will feel the need to drink even more.
  7. Alcohol – no matter what celebration reason you have before the wedding, you either have to say “no” to a glass of whiskey or be extremely careful with the alcohol quantities that you consume. If you’ve never had a hangover in your life, ask someone who has and they will tell you it’s one of the most awful feelings in the world. Those colored cocktails may appear delicious, but they contain huge quantities of sugar that you will make you feel stiff and bloated the next day, also causing dark circles under your eyes.
